our organic sprouts!

Sprout Garden

We use only certified organic Canadian seeds and add ocean trace minerals to the water we soak and sprout with. All the water we use on our “girls” comes from a deep well aquifer located in the Niagara Escarpment, which has been designated a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). The trays used for the growing are sterilized with high grade hydrogen peroxide and left to further sterilize in the sun when available. Our greens are grown in certified organic soil (EcoCert) and misted with ocean trace minerals to ensure maximum mineral content. We ozonate and circulate the air to control the growing conditions. The greens are grown with natural light and supplemented with full spectrum grow lights. We hand harvest using ceramic knives to minimize oxidation then package in breathable bags to maximize longevity and freshness.

Our customers say our sprouts are the best they've ever eaten!

Currently in health circles the terms and concepts of acid and alkaline are used liberally and often confusingly. The importance of an abundance of alkaline foods in the diet is paramount. Alkalizing foods are responsible for keeping a body healthy and disease free, strengthening bones and connective tissue, ensuring a highly functioning immune system able to quickly and easily recover from physical exertion. These foods are essential to help your body maintain a mental calmness and a spiritual groundedness. However, too much alkalinity will lead to spaciness and inertia, excessive daydreaming and limited action. A simple distillation of an often confusing acid/alkaline chart is; almost every food falls within the range from strongly acid to neutral except greens, including leafy greens, sea vegetables, sprouts and algae. All of the greens we grow are highly alkalizing and grown with love!

We grow the following soil based sprouts, greens and grasses

SUNFLOWER: These young greens are a complete protein containing almost as much protein as chicken. Sunflower greens contain minerals, vitamins, chlorophyll and H.O.P.E. (Hormones, Oxygen, Phytonutrients and Enzymes). Definitely our favourite and the most popular and sought after green we grow!

PEA SHOOTS: Pea shoots are high in protein, minerals, vitamins, chlorophyll and H.O.P.E. (Hormones, Oxygen, Phytonutrients and Enzymes). They taste sweet like peas and make a crunchy snack food!

BUCKWHEAT LETTUCE: Contains the same properties as all leafy greens, as well as an abundance of rutin (a citrus flavinoid also known as Vitamin P), an antioxidant known to strengthen capillaries and improve circulation. Buckwheat greens are very tender with a hint of citrus.

WHEATGRASS: Contains every mineral the human body requires and must be juiced (cats and dogs love it too). Unlike cows, if we were to chew and swallow wheatgrass we humans don’t have the required four stomachs to digest it properly. One ounce of fresh juice is equivalent to eating 2.5 pounds of vegetables.

Green Juice

our favourite green juice recipe

1 cup celery juice
1 cup cucumber juice
1 cup sunflower greens juice
1 cup pea shoot juice
1 garlic clove
1" fresh ginger
½ lemon, juiced
½ dropper cayenne tincture

Sometimes people wonder how they would possibly go through an entire ¼ pound bag of sprouts before they lose their freshness. Our sprouts all last a minimum of one week from the harvest date, but usually 1 ½ -3 weeks, or even four weeks and sometimes still longer... As a family we will often consume up to 40 lbs in a week. Our sprouts/greens are great in salads, sandwiches, wraps, juiced, blended or even added to sautéed veggies!
